Jack Kevorkian Assisted Suicide Van Pulled Off EBay

Jack Kevorkian Assisted Suicide Van Pulled Off EBay

If you can dream it, you are able to discover it on eBay – and that contains Jack Kevorkian’s assisted suicide van. Now imagine what the seller is thinking now that eBay has pulled the listing. The online auction depot felt they had no choice but to crush the dreams of those who are in the market for “murderabilia.” Seller Jack Finn is upset; he won’t be making that sale. Bidding had reached $3,400 with three days left, but that’s cash Mr. Finn will never see.

Kevorkian assisted suicide van: vehicle of a ‘notorious murderer?’

Whether the term applies is up for debate, but eBay’s E-mail to the AP clearly states that they consider an artifact that glorifies murder. After what was no doubt intense review, eBay kicked the listing for site policy violation. Strangely, eBay has a “murderabilia” policy – and Mr. Finn’s listing violated it. Finn’s response, when masking shades of disappointment, was ultimately pragmatic: “I don’t run eBay, Craigslist or the world.” As it turns out, an Auburn, Ind., auction house called Kruse Auctions has agreed to sell the Jack Kevorkian assisted suicide van at a Might 13-16 auction.

Watch out for the assisted suicide van replica in the Kevorkian film

Dr. Jack’s ‘68 VW van is on display in replica during the HBO film “You Don’t Know Jack,” which stars Al Pacino. The copy is in better shape than the original, which Finn says is water-damaged and dangerous. All parts in the original need overhaul, said Finn in the eBay listing. It may move a bit under its own power, but it’s not safe.

How did Finn come into such “murderabilia?”

The AP reports that Finn got it in 1997 when he was running a used auto parts company, Recycled Bugs. Dr. Jack had given it up that year for scrap. Instead of scrap it, Kevorkian’s body shop must have sold it. What is clear, as outlined by Kevorkian’s lawyer Mayer Morganroth, is that Jack is upset that the Kevorkian assisted suicide van was ever put up for auction. Finn is lucky that Jack Kevorkian isn’t really interested in pressing charges over this assisted suicide van auction debacle, says the AP.
